S1 & S2 English Story-telling Competitions 2024-2025
The English story-telling competition, organised for F.1 and F.2 students on 13th and 14th March 2025 respectively, aimed at cultivating students’ passion for reading, boosting their confidence in public speaking as well as developing their appreciation for Chinese folklores. With the support of our teachers and students, the events concluded with success and the storytellers narrated their chosen stories with nice voice modulation, pauses, and impressive facial expressions. The judging panel applauded their effort and congratulated all winning storytellers.

Form 1 Story-telling Competition--reflections by Tai Yin Pok Nathan (1A 33)
On the 13th of March, it was the annual inter-class competition — Form 1 Story-telling Competition, and we all came to the hall and listened to their storytelling. Each class had two competitors, ten in total, who each told their story one by one. The first three places were chosen by Mr. Burn, Miss C.Y Hung and Miss K. M. Ho. Each of the competitors spoke for three minutes fluently and they were fantastic. It was wonderful and that day was unforgettable, even though I was not one of the competitors! I was very nervous about the result of the competitions. I was thinking whether our candidates could win glory for our class.
Overall, I think that day was awesome, the competition was well-prepared, with no delays, and just simply perfect. The content of each story was very interesting and fascinating, full of truth and morals, and all of the morals were applicable to real life, not just in a fable world. I think The Legend of the Jade Rabbit was the best, not just because it was amusing and entertaining, it was also full of inspiring moments. From the story, the part when the rabbit jumped into the fire was very surprising, showing the bravery and courage of the rabbit. Noticing this, the Jade Emperor was impressed by this startling but courageous action, letting him to be the candidate for making the immorality potion. It was simply the best story in my opinion. To sum up, that day was amazing and full of entertainment!
Champion: 2C Cheung Cheuk Yin, Christopher (‘The Crow and the Pitcher’)
1st runner-up: 2B Wong Yui Chit, Jasper (‘The Foolish Man Who Moves the Mountain’)
2nd runner-up: 2B Kong Jasmine Tsz-Ching (‘The Ant and the Grasshopper’)
Form 2 Story-telling Competition--reflections by Kong Jasmine Tsz-Ching (2B 3)
This was my first time participating in the story telling competition. I never had much experience of that, and the result was rather surprising for me. I think that I still have room for improvement, but I can tell you that after the teacher's training, I've improved significantly. The overall experience was marvelous, and I learned a lot from my peers and teachers. The preparation work wasn't too hard other than a few dos and don'ts. This competition is very amusing to all and I'd like to see it again next year.
